Theodor Jensen Puts CLX Motorsport on Pole in Imola – Three for Three in LMP3

Theodor Jensen added another chapter to his breakout season in the European Le Mans Series, claiming pole position in the LMP3 class for tomorrow’s 4 Hours of Imola. Driving the #17 CLX Motorsport Ligier JS P320, Jensen delivered a spectacular lap of 1:45.844—securing the team’s third pole in as many races this year.

Seizing the Moment Before the Storm

Jensen, making his first qualifying appearance of the season, seized the opportunity with precision and bravery in changeable conditions. Rain had already delayed qualifying by over an hour, and ominous clouds loomed as LMP3 cars took to the circuit on Goodyear wets. With track conditions deteriorating rapidly, Jensen knew he had just one shot.

“I had to push on my first lap because we knew it would start raining a lot,” Jensen said afterward. “I was on the limit, I pushed a bit too much at times, but it was enough. Then on the next lap it was wet and I had an off moment. On the in-lap, I had to go slowly to avoid putting the car in the gravel.”

That initial flyer proved untouchable, 0.755s quicker than Ian Aguilera in the #11 Eurointernational Ligier. As the session came to an end, any hope for others to challenge vanished—cementing Jensen’s place at the top of the time sheets.

Perfect Qualifying Record, Maximum Points

With this pole, the #17 CLX Motorsport team continues their perfect run in LMP3 qualifying. Three races into the season, they’ve bagged three pole positions and all available bonus points, extending their lead at the top of the standings.

Jensen, who has been sharing driving duties across the season with teammates Paul Lanchère and Adrien Closmenil, stepped into qualifying duties for the first time this year—and made it count.

“We’ve worked hard to get the car in the right window,” Jensen said. “To grab pole like that, on a knife-edge lap—feels incredible. This crew deserves it.”

Momentum Building Ahead of Race Day

After finishing second in the final free practice by just 0.014s, the CLX squad knew they had pace to fight at the front. Tomorrow’s 4 Hours of Imola will offer a new set of challenges, with warm and humid conditions expected to replace the wet chaos of Saturday.

“We’ve got the best starting position,” Jensen said. “But Sunday is about consistency and staying out of trouble. It’s a long race, and we’ll need to be smart and fast across all four hours.”

Jensen’s performance also sends a message to the rest of the LMP3 grid: CLX Motorsport is not only leading the standings but also setting the tone for the season. The competition will need to dig deep to disrupt the rhythm of the #17 squad.

Sunday Showdown Ahead

The 4 Hours of Imola is set to begin at 12:00 CEST on Sunday. With unsettled weather, tight margins, and plenty of traffic expected across the 44-car field, the race promises to be a thrilling chapter in the 2025 ELMS season.

And with Theodor Jensen back behind the wheel and on pole, the road to LMP3 victory looks like it may once again run through CLX Motorsport.
